What do you aspire to be in life when you grow up?
Corporate leader or civil servant.
What's your debating background like?
I was exposed to it in secondary school during class debates and represented the school in Moot Parliament debates (inter-school debating competition). I represented my primary school in Chinese oratorical competitions, winning the national competition.
Why do you love debating?
It's stimulating, as it teaches us to view things from a different angle to make an argument. Also, it improves presentation and communication skills, and builds confidence as well.
What advice have you gotten so far?
“Be natural and speak confidently.”
If you could have a ten min conversation with anyone, who would it be?
Jay Leno. He's witty, humourous and has a great personality!
What is one topic that will never get you running out of steam?
Soccer. It's a universal language!
What made you join the competition?
The opportunity to appear on TV! Seriously, to test our debating abilities, as we are all not in the Debate CCA. Shiyang and I are emcees for school events as well, so we decided to give this a shot!
How do you prepare for the competition?
Sleep early.
If your team wins the competition, who would you thank first and why?
The school for deciding not to send the school debate team and giving us a chance.
How do you motivate each other?
Scold one another!
